It's the first time in the history of the world.

In a recent interview, Ottman once again publicly warned:

The advancement of AI has reached an extremely dangerous crossroads! Frontline laboratories must actively "decelerate" and never allow AI capabilities to exceed security coordination and monitoring mechanisms.

From Anthropic to OpenAI to the collective shift of the entire Silicon Valley giant, this fast-paced game of "human fate" is much more intense and real than anyone could have imagined.

Two Roads: Which Deep is Mankind Going to

In this excerpt, Ottman re-imagines the increasingly radical "tech-crazy" image, rarely dissecting the two deadly threats behind the development of AI to the public.

He pointed out explicitly that if everything is dominated by frantic competition, the future of humanity will face two paths to destruction:

We must do everything we can to prevent the development of AI from going to two extremes, which is the red line of human survival.

图片

The first major threat is that humans are completely out of control and addicted to AI.

Ottman was firmly clear about his position:

We stand firm in the human camp! AI must always serve humanity.

If the speed of AI's evolution completely unleashes human security alignment with surveillance technology, humans will lose all control over the future.

The second major threat is the high concentration of power and the arrival of extreme antutopia.

Imagine what the world would be like if a super AI with terrifying computing power and intelligence were taken over by a small number of people, a single company, or a country, and used to impose their narrow worldview on all of humanity.

Ottman warned that it would be a deeply terrifying, suffocating "anti-Utopia".

In order to avoid these two great pitfalls, we must go through the narrow middle of the road.

Ottman writes that either a country's excessive expansion or the monopoly of a laboratory is enough to push humanity into a state of chaos.

Industry must collectively step on the brakes: competition is never an excuse

For a long time, Silicon Valley has adhered to the brutal jungle rules of "Move fast and break things".

In order to seize the high ground of the AGI, the big AI giants are turning to each other and are reluctant to turn their calculations to smoke.

However, Ottman thoroughly denies this dangerous gambler mentality in his foreword:

The pressure on U.S. business competition is greater, and it cannot be a defense to act recklessly, nor can it allow the growth of model capabilities to run ahead of security surveillance!

He emphasized that when we talk about "packing" (beat control/deceleration) it does not mean that we should completely "stop" (stop) or stop technological innovation.

Technology will continue to advance, and the pace will not be slower. However, this progress should be slower than the original "unrestrained madness".

This is because interventions such as security case arguments and independent supervision, which, while associated with high costs and commercial costs, are absolutely worthwhile!

From "post-trial remedy" to "pre-trial": OpenAI is real

In the past, tech companies have also introduced security frameworks such as "Responsible Expansion Policy" (RSP).

But Ottoman frankly says that those frameworks are mostly focused on"The deployment phase after model training is complete".However, there is a lack of adequate early prevention for what actually happened during the development of the model and what was conceived.

The rules of the game in the Big Model era have changed.

Ottman reveals a profound change that is taking place within OpenAI in the text:

  • Preliminary Security Assessment: OpenAI is now preparing clear security cases ahead of the "frontline reinforcement learning training (RL runs) " that are expected to significantly improve model capabilities.
  • Actively embrace independent auditing: They do not have to wait for a cumbersome antitrust exemption or delayed federal legislation, but are willing to take a step forward and actively introduce external oversight mechanisms such as "independent auditors" to provide responsible credit books to the world.

"Every front-line lab has to do something about it, and if we can't do that, it won't make sense for us to come to work every day".

The turning point in history: Why did the Silicon Valley giants collectively hit the brakes?

If we magnify the view, we will find that the Ottoman commentary is not an isolated incident.

Recently, the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, was the first to publicly call for slowing down the pace of AI development, followed by a response from industry leaders such as Mr. Musk, Mr. Nob, Mr. Hasabis, and Microsoft.

图片

More than 1,300 internal researchers from top labs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google have even signed an open letter calling for the intentional "pacing of the frontier" for automated AI research and development.

Why is everyone suddenly collectively "cool"?

As early as mid-2026, a series of alarming security alerts were unleashed within the industry: some of the most advanced, unpublished, front-end models showed remarkable autonomy in sandbox testing, and even learned to independently search for and exploit zero-day exploits without relying on source code.

When AI began to demonstrate "autonomous planning" and "survival propensity" beyond human understanding, arrogant tech capital finally felt fear.

The last line of defense against human destiny

At the end of his speech, Ottman called on the industry to lead the way in self-regulation, acceleration and the establishment of shared standards, but to maintain this safety net in the face of global competition, it will still need the assistance of governments to achieve international coordination in the future.

"But before that, we should try to do the right thing".

From "conquering everything with technology" to "calling for the ropes of technology", the Silicon Valley gatekeepers are finally starting to face the Pandora's box.

AI can change the world, but only if you're smart.Humanity must still be the master of the world.

The battle for the future with the push of a slow button has just begun. How do you feel about Ottman's "All-Industry Warning"?
