There are more types of machine dogs than pet dogs.

In 2026, you'll see more quadrupeds at a tech show than you'll ever see in a small town with gold hair, kinky, teddy, etc. combined. That's not a joke. The quadruped dog's morphology has outpaced most dog breeds' evolution. On the same technology base, it

“ I'm a machine dog in the neighborhood.

Can you believe it? In 2026, the four-legged robots you'll see at a tech show will be more than you'll ever see in the suburbs of Goldilocks, Kirkie, Teddy, etc. combined.

This isn't a joke. The four-legged machine dog has evolved more rapidly than most other dog breeds. On the same technology, wheels, seats, human half-heads, dinosaur skeletons, and drones have been developed.

Every leg stretched out, capturing a new scene, a new crowd, a new business. After seeing these explosive robot dog shapes, you might be amazed that the pet dog loses unfairly!

01.

Two hundred machine dogs, and 200,000 industrial platforms, in the same technological network.

At this year's World Robotics Congress (WRC), a small AI remote-controlled machine dog became a stealth explosion. It had no independent booths, only was sold by manufacturers in the corner, but was always surrounded by water.

The Kemis-sized machine dog can run, fold, and interact with humans. According to field feedback, this type of small machine dog has sold nearly a thousand units a day. This is almost unique among WRC road manufacturers.

The main reason for this is that the price of the Kemis machine dog ranges from 200 to 280 yuan, compared to the tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of robot products on the ground, which are just like a clean stream. In front of its booth, the audience is not only watching, but also chewing the pot. After all, a few cups of fine coffee can buy a machine dog that will walk, shout, respond to instructions.

More profoundly, the logic is that it's stepping into the critical point where four-legged robots can go from a showcase to a barrel of consumer goods: small enough to fit in a pair of shoulder bags; cheap enough, cheap enough to drive consumption; fun enough, fun enough to make the average person want one.

The Kemis finished the four-legged illuminated cylinder with an extremely simplified structure, whose cost curve went to the area where consumer electronics could be picked up, while their industrial chain accumulated motors, cylinders, batteries and miniaturized control systems countered the upward trend.

Of course, on the other end of the spectrum, well-known manufacturers such as Yuke's, Cloud Deep are also ripping open their mouths in the market. From two hundred toys to hundreds of thousands of industrial platforms, the four-legged form is penetrating a completely different market level using the same step-by-step logic.

Wheelfoot Complexity: When a Species Learns to Crop

The first steam-shaped revolutionary steam engine for a four-legged robot started with this most unusual part of the wheel.

In the real world, pure foot movement is elegant enough, but it also has soft ribs. After all, climbing the stairs, crossing the trenches, adapting to complex terrain, legs are irreplaceable, but once you walk into factory areas, parks, warehouses, these flat roads, the efficiency of climbing four legs seems awkward and expensive.

Thus, the wheel-to-foot complex form becomes the most pragmatic technical fold: legs are responsible for dignity, wheels are responsible for efficiency.

The Cloud Deep Mountain Cat series was one of the pioneers on this route, almost taking the turbocharger as the second growth curve. Its latest release, the S10, pushed the turbocharger to extreme, with an overall self-weight of less than 20 kg, flat speeds of up to 8 m/s, and easy flexibility.

On the other hand, Yuke's technology has also targeted the gun in this direction, with its As2-W, released in July this year, adding a new set of four actively driven cross-country wheels based on the pure four-legged As2, with a maximum acceleration speed of 6 meters per second.

This kind of turbocharging, leg-charging, is a refinement of energy management through the work logic of sexuality. Putting the two into the same body is equivalent to allowing the robot to balance dynamically between the energy budget and the complexity of the terrain.

Riding form: from a dog-like monkey to a monkey-like horse

Another evolutionary direction for quadruped robots is to pull humans from science fiction into reality. This requires the entire system to jump to a quantitative level at the same time in terms of load capacity, stability and human-machine interaction.

After all, when a machine dog's carrying capacity is sufficient to carry an adult, its identity is no longer merely an accompanying instrument or patrol device, but a head-mounted mechanical riding cart.

In July of this year, the company launched the Honda X1 series of all-terrain intelligent riding machines. The Honda X1 features a purely quadruped biomechanical structure, a 300 kg engine, a replica of the original Honda bike, a speed of 7 to 10 km/h, a dynamic load of 300 kg, a duration of 40 km. Its legs can independently adjust the depth and angle of landing, to cope with slopes, debris, mud.

The capsule series of Kepler's robots has made this work at an industrial level. The capsule weighs 300 kg, has a full load of almost one ton, and has a body height of more than 2 meters. It supports dual modes of passenger cycling and rear-end cargo transportation, and can climb 45 degrees slope, walk in water, and core components IP67 protection.

Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries also launched the CORLEO project in April this year, which was inspired by a lion-like riding robot, the size of which is close to a large motorcycle, with riders using the car's handlebars and body weight to control direction and speed. The concept was conceived as early as last year, with no excess production to wait until almost a decade later.

The rise of quadruped robotics is essentially a key step in the transition from robotic tools to robotic platforms. It actively carries the need for human spaceflight to become an intermediate carrier between humans and complex terrain, to some extent redefining human-machine relationships.

Half Horse Shape: When the other half needs to work

Another gesture of the form exploded, in which a quadriplegic was placed on the bottom of a chair, and the quadriplegic robot was transformed into a half-horse robot.

The world's first half-horse robot will be unveiled at WAIC 2026, with the upper half being a humanoid two-armed structure with flexible operating capabilities; the lower half being a four-wheel-drive body with both wheelbase speed and high-permeability.

图片

Satyress Robotics, from the United States, brings with it a more visually impactful form. The three-half-colored robot, developed by the California startup, has a black body, a strange shape, and a sheep-like face that reminds one of a demonic image in Western legend. Its name itself is a metaphor, the three-half-colored three-half-colored robot, which means half-man, half-beast, half-machine.

Of course, from a design perspective, this 2.1-meter-high, remotely controlled robot is designed for the most dangerous environments such as wildfire rescue, building collapses, earthquakes and hazardous waste leaks.

图片

The value of half-human horses is that it solves the problem of traditional mobile robots not being able to navigate in complex terrain. The quadrupeds are responsible for reaching, the half-human is responsible for intervening, and the two ability curves intersect in the same system.

Transformers, dinosaurs, ground-space cooperation: the complete liberation of form

As you can see here, you will find that all of the above forms can be explained clearly, and then these forms will completely let go of the imagination.

A shape that is close to the magic realist shell is that robots can deform under different scenarios. In July this year, the launch robot T1 was launched, which is the flagship of the world's first deformable personal robot shell. It uses a Transformer transformer integrated architecture that switches autonomously between the shape of a wheelchair and the shape of a quadriplegic. In the interior, it is a silent wheelchair, with a zero-turn radius design, that can flexibly travel through the living room and outside the library.

The four-legged shape provides a stable mobile base, the upper half of the human body provides an operating interface, and the deformation capability allows the two to interact without having to be online at the same time.

图片

From a technical point of view, the dinosaur shape is the extreme stretching of quadruped motion control technology on super-large quadruped bodies. The joint torque, structural strength, sensory stability, each of which needs to be balanced between what looks like a real cat and a cat that doesn't collapse.

From humanoids to quadrupeds to ancient creatures 65 million years ago, the intelligent industry has played a role in the reverse thinking of the theory of evolution.

图片

The soft-powered engine F1 opted for another convergence path: an integrated unmanned aerial vehicle on a quad-foot robot, building an air-to-air integration platform that covers a wide area of high-altitude space + ground-to-ground precision operations. The quad-foot robot is responsible for every step on the ground, the drone is responsible for seeing every inch from the sky. The data of the two are combined in the same system, the blind spots on the ground are filled by the viewpoints of the sky, and the blurry sky is calibrated by the details on the ground.

After all, a four-legged machine dog can't walk and can't see the roof; a drone can't fly and can't drill into the rubble. Combining the two into one system is like giving a machine dog an eye that can fly at any time.

The shape of the big bang is just a metaphor

Under the shape boom, a profound field is also taking place within the quadruped robot industry.

At the consumer level, four-legged robots are evolving steadily from rubber toy properties to rubber functionality inputs; at the industrial level, four-legged robots are being rapidly refined, from heavy industry to light industry, from special operations to daily operation.

The underlying technology of the four-legged robot is penetrating all areas like water. Wheel-leg complexes solve energy efficiency problems, cycling solves load and man-to-man relationships, and half-horse solves operational capability problems...

These directions look different, but they share the same underpinnings: joint drive, motion control, environmental perception, energy management. When these underpinnings are modulated, standardized, and scaled, quadrupeds are no longer a product category, but a piece of mobile infrastructure. On top of that, anything can grow.

Furthermore, there is an anti-intuitive truth that the more the form changes, the more it becomes apparent that bodybuilding is no longer a barrier, the more the brainbuilding really determines the outcome. When the underlying capabilities are strong enough, the body can grow freely; and when the brain is intelligent enough, the form can extend indefinitely.

Of course, no matter how the four-legged robot grows, it will eventually grow into what it needs to look like.

It took more than 10,000 years for pet dogs to differentiate into hundreds of breeds. Machine dogs may take only decades.
