Recently, Anthropic announced a name change for Claude's subscription package.
The original Max 5x was renamed Max and was still $100 per month; the Max 20x was renamed Ultra and was still $200 per month.
Existing subscribers do not need any operation, prices and rights do not change, names are automatically changed.

After completing the name change, Claude's personal subscription packages formed the four grades of Free, Pro, Max and Ultra.

Meanwhile, Anthropic has started lifting the five-hour usage limit for verified Ultra accounts, with most existing subscribers benefiting first.
The newly registered Ultra account will be temporarily restricted to 5 hours and will be terminated by Anthropic after verification of the account.
It was announced that the developer, Theo, was directly reviewing it as "Huge!!!".

Netizens say the $200 rating has finally lifted the five-hour limit, and recent product updates from Anthropic are booming.

Codex "God of Replacement" Tibo says that the weekly limit is still strict and that it is better to change the monthly replacement directly to a more painful one.

Why did 20x change its name to Ultra?
Claude's subscription product manager, Michael Overell, later posted an explanation as to why the adjustment was made.

When Anthropic launched its highest-rated subscription plan in April 2025, the package only had a 5-hour intake window that was 20 times the volume of the Pro package, hence the name Max 20x.
Later, Anthropic added a weekly usage limit to the package. The five-hour window continued to be 20 times that of the Pro, but the weekly limit was set at 10 times that of the Pro.
This set of rules has caused some new users to misunderstand that after seeing the name "Max 20x", they can easily think that the 5-hour allowance and the weekly allowance are 20 times Pro.
Overell publicly apologized for this and said the removal of "20x" from the name was to eliminate the discrepancy between the name and the actual weekly quota.
Ultra has a weekly limit
After removing the 5-hour limit, verified Ultra users can continue to use Claude until they reach the weekly limit.
This does not mean that Ultra is now available for unlimited use, with the weekly limit of the package still being 10 times that of the Pro, and this adjustment does not increase the total amount of users within a week.
The change is mainly due to the use of quantitative measures.
In the past, even with the remaining weekly allowance, users could first touch the upper limit of the 5-hour window and only suspend tasks. After the limit is lifted, users can continue to use Claude until the weekly allowance is exhausted.

However, for users who had previously exhausted their weekly allowance in advance, the total amount available remained unchanged. Max users with $100 per month are also known as adjustments, with their 5 hours and weekly upper limit being maintained at five times that of Pro.
Overell says that more product updates are in the works for Anthropic. This is the first time that the 5-hour limit on Ultra has been lifted, showing that Claude is competing further with developers and high-frequency users.
