The king of robotics has just returned! "Divine Hardware" is flying GPT-6, three new things that are

It's the first time in the history of the world.

Recently, the GPT-6 Astra has become so hot that its real-life capabilities in the real physical world have surprised the entire tech world.

In the same competition, Claude Fable 5.1, Grok 4.6 and even his own generation of models collapsed, and Astra became the only passing "candidate".

图片

With no manual instruction, its zero-sample robot can control extremely complex crawling and placement tasks with a 95% success rate; it can even take over drones, find people in the office, and fly with them.

But in all of these amazing tests, there was one case that completely set fire to the X: the GPT-6 Astra operated with a mechanical hand, perfectly performing a human "transcript!"

It's an extremely tough challenge: high speed, continuous contact, minimal manipulation on the slippery edges. The suggestion is simply, "Make a handwriting, write your own code, search your own papers, train yourself"... As a result, the AI runs for a day and a half, and the hand actually turns the pen upside down.

And the mechanic in the video of the explosion is from Sharpa, an AI robot company.

Astra's explosion even made people realize that physical infrastructure is crucial for a big model to enter the physical world.

In the second half of the competition, Sharpa's smoothness and high-resolution touch made it the carrier with the highest probability of hosting these top-of-the-line models.

Now, many of Ingrid's top papers on agility are using Sharpa W01, or Sharpa Wave.

The paper:

Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics 2 training and testing is also a hand, and they give it a very high rating: "It adapts to the world, rather than making the world adapt to it".

Jim Fan, a senior scientist at INVIDA, even more publicly praised the importance of touch: "Touch is the most severely neglected perceptual model in robotics... If robots today were alive, no touch would be as delicate as wearing thick oven gloves".

图片

Sharpa is the perfect solution to this pain.

And what they did was not done by a pair of cunning hands.

One hand is not enough, and the maneuver is "lifting up".

This year, the entire robotics industry has gone crazy, and everyone is dying of "smart hands".

People finally realize that the only solution to mobility is that "robots can't get there", and that a pair of hands that are infinitely close to human hands will decide "what it will do next".

But at the recently-convened global robotics summit IROS in Pittsburgh, U.S.A., Sharpa, as "someone else's big model benchmark", directly threw out an industry-aware answer: tackling more complex, longer-lasting real business tasks with one hand is far from enough. We need a complete chain of solutions!

This time, Sharpa completely broke the boundaries of capability, extending the front line from "single-body smart hands" to "robot essence" and "data collection equipment".

They unveiled three new products: a general-purpose robotic robot D01, a second-generation all-touch flexible W02 and an outer-bone touch data glove AE01.

While the whole industry is still working on "how to make a good pair of hands", a reform that will change the industry landscape has arrived.

Sharpa doesn't play cards by suit, but instead plays the ultimate physical closure of the body, touch, and data channels directly onto the board.

This is a "new infrastructure" for general robotics.

At 21 degrees of freedom, W02 brings the smart hand closer to the human hand

One of the key new features of this model is the new generation of the W02 high-frequency touchscreen.

图片

The GPT-6 is capable of performing low-frequency operations on its own, but the sophistication of the operation is still going on in the higher dimensions, and the entire industry is working on it this year.

Tesla's positioning on smart hands is straightforward: how big a robot is will ultimately depend on what kind of hands it has. In the latest Optimus recruitment announcement, Tesla even made it clear that smart hands are "one of the most critical, complex subsystems" of the entire robot.

Sharpa has bet with his hands, and the result is not good.

At the beginning of the year, the GR00T reference humanoid robot was released, and the body chose the Utrecht H2 Plus, but it was the Sharpa Wave (later renamed W01).

图片

But this time, the W02 cuts a degree of freedom based on the previous generation's 22 degrees of freedom?

Those who care about Sharpa may ask: Is technology backwards?

On the contrary, this is a big step towards Sharpa's "real world".

After researching mass real applications, engineers decided to cut off that freedom at the base of the thumb because they found that this would only make the movement of the thumb "rotate" without any sense of existence when working, except for grinding.

This adjustment not only simplifies the root structure of the thumb, but also significantly reduces mechanical complexity and potential failure points.

After removing this degree of freedom, the overall size of W02 shrinks by 30%!

图片

It is smaller, lighter, can easily enter the narrow work space originally designed for humans and significantly reduces the load on the forearm.

What's more, the W02 is also IP54 waterproof and has achieved a "zero grip radius", which means it can easily adapt to highly diverse, real-life harsh working environments.

At the same time, the fingers are equipped with high-resolution visual touch sensing, while the rest of the hand is equipped with electronic skin.

It has a dynamic sensing range of 5 mN to 30 N!

The upper limit of 30 N allows it to die by pinching a heavy electrical drill; while the lower limit of 5 mN (0.5 g) means that when a mosquito stops at the tip, the steel hand can clearly "feel" it.

The entire hand is covered with touch, allowing it not only to "touch" but also to perceive the softness, texture and sliding tendencies of objects.

Earlier this year, during CES 2026, Sharpa on W01 completed 2,000+ shots in four days, with a failure rate of less than 1%.

Today, with the addition of W02, the robot's hands will be handled more carefully upstairs.

D01: It's not just fast, it's "the whole thing feels".

The second major innovation is the fully self-developed general-purpose humanoid robot D01.

Many people's impression of the humanoid robot remains: the skeleton is large, it moves slowly.

In Sharpa's product matrix, D01 is responsible for "all-body motion execution".

This time, it completed two major improvements: the ability to move and the full body touch.

One: faster, stronger, more precise movements.

In the real world, no one wants to wait five minutes for a robot to cook an apple.

D01 uses a completely new, self-developed joint modulation and motion control algorithm.

Its brain and limbs interact 1000 times per second, and its maximum end-user speed exceeds 10.5 m/s!

What is this concept? Bolt's 100-meter acceleration rate is about 10.4 m/s. That is, the D01 moves faster than the pilot's acceleration rate, faster than the human vision.

This provides an unparalleled foundation for high-dynamic tasks such as clutching rods and rapid tool operation.

The interaction of 1000 instructions per second between the brain (algorithm) and the limb (hardware) means that the D01's movements are not at all lagging behind, like muscle memory flow.

When it stretches out its mechanical arm to brew beer, the trajectory and human intuition are almost mutually exclusive.

图片

Not only was it fast, but it was also precise at the level of the needle-pointing line, relying on 0.2 mm repetitive positioning accuracy and 1:1 human-scale spherical wrist joints.

0.2 mm, about the thickness of two strands of hair. Accompanied by spherical wrist joints designed to be exactly the same size as a person's body, the D01 has the same flexibility of rotation as the human wrist and never takes up extra space.

Finally, the extreme pressure of the force, the arm load self-weight ratio reaches 1:1.

The ability to compress the self-weight ratio to 1:1 means that Sharpa has done extreme compression on electromechanical density, material weighting, and conductive structure.

Secondly, "whole-body electron skin", where the core interaction area is fully covered by touch.

It's also one of the most haunted places in D01.

In the past, robots were highly dependent on vision and hearing and had no "touch" to the physical world.

But D01 breaks this barrier. It has not only a pair of smart hands, but also a digital body with "skin sensation".

The touch skin under the entire body, refreshed 100 times per second, can accurately discern touches in the range of 1 centimetre (10 mm) and can even detect small force changes of 0.1 N.

In other words, a bird stands on its arm and the robot cannot see it.

It is not a cold machine, it is an unprecedented luxury configuration in the field of commercial humanoid robots.

AE01: The "data flyer" of the Big Model era

With a good body (D01) and God's hand (W02), would a robot be able to work right away?

Yes, it requires learning. And in the era of AI big models, the most scarce is high-quality, physically intelligent data.

This led to the introduction of the third new out-of-the-box bone data glove AE01.

It's a wearable device. If you put it on, it'll be mapped to a robot's hand without delay, and it'll create the perfect "human-machine integration".

图片

22 encoders directly capture natural joint movement, providing high-resolution action input.

But where it's most counterintuitive is in "bi-directional feedback".

The gloves on the market are only one-way outputs, and the AE01 is worn, and when remote robots pinch a sponge ball, the touch on the mechanical hand is transmitted back, letting you wear the glove's finger and receive a touch alert!

This solves the deadly dead end of "no hand feeling" in remote operation.

Human operators can complete complex tasks with perfect master-level hand sensing, while continuously sourcing great data for AI's large-scale "feeding" model with real physical touch.

Additionally, AE01 has an injection-free design that requires no cumbersome calibration process; it also has strong resistance to environmental interference, making extremely complex data collection easy and convenient.

These quantities of high-quality, touch-sensitive real-world data are the most valuable nutrients for the future "robot AI big model".

Sharpa: Defining the limits of robot agility

In the robotics industry, fine clips of "Show Muscles" are common, but in Sharpa's view, validation of abilities should not be confined to lab videos.

At various global exhibitions, Sharpa has insisted on welcoming real-life audiences with its fully autonomous Live Demo.

During CES, it folded 300+ windmills in succession; welcomed 1,300+ spectators to interact with 21 points; played 90 ping pong turns with humans in an extremely fast response of 0.02 seconds.

Then, on August 29, at the DQ store on Shanghai's Zhejiang Road, their robots started "working".

Sharpa's collaboration with DQ on projects such as the Robot Storm Snow Restaurant further incorporates agility into real-world business scenarios to verify the ability of robots to handle long-range, continuous, and high-contact tasks.

This ability to operate continuously in an open environment in the face of real interference is proof of the real practicality of general robots.

In this IROS, they completed a "great unity" puzzle.

D01 is responsible for body and whole body touch, W02 is responsible for high-precision physical operations, and AE01 is responsible for unlocking human intentions with high-quality body data.

Sharpa is working on two major upgrades on its own.

1. To lift the "touch" from the tape sensor to the systemic level of nerves that cover the whole body, bi-directional transmission.

2. From hardware execution to AI-trained "body-based data flying saucers".

Sharpa is now working on a full-featured hardware infrastructure that once again defines the performance limits of robot agility.

They have proven with force that they are not just a company that makes clever hands, but a "top-liner" that operates cleverly in the real world.

When a robot's palms can clearly sense the weight of a feather, when their bodies can sense the slightest touch, when the intelligence of a large model is equal to that perfect combination of two...

The turning point in the robotics industry is approaching.
